COMMISSIONS PAID TO THE AGENTS INVOLVED IN THE TRANSACTION

A real estate transaction is based on commissions where in the past the agent representing the property owner would take on a listing for 5-6% based on the needs of the client.  The agent, upon taking the listing and working his/her magic on marketing and advertising the home would split the commission with the Buyer's agent 50/50.  Considering, commissions paid to either agent has always been negotiable, an agent with consent to dual agency representation (where they represent both parties in the sale of the property) was able to adjust commissions as agreed to between the parties.  Is much different today.  The Seller and Buyer each pay their agent as contracted.
